Registered attendees of the AAAR 37th Annual Conference will receive a complimentary TriMet pass when checking in at the AAAR registration desk at the Oregon Convention Center. The TriMet pass is valid on trains, busses and streetcars in the city of Portland over the conference dates. MAX light rail trains run between the conference hotels and the Oregon Convention Center. To plan your trip, please visit www.trimet.org
The airport is located nine miles northeast of downtown Portland and is conveniently connected to the city center via MAX light rail train.
The MAX light rail Red Line is the easiest way to travel to and from the airport. Here are some quick facts:
For complete schedules and more information, visit www.trimet.org/schedules/maxredline.htm.
The average taxi fare from the airport to downtown is approximately $35 before gratuity. The one-way trip takes 20-40 minutes. You can find taxis waiting in the center section of the airport terminal’s lower roadway outside of baggage claim; to get back to the airport from the city center, you can order a cab through the city’s main operators or from a hotel with a dedicated taxi stand.
People popularly use ride sharing services like Uber and Lyft to get to and from the airport and to get around the city.
If you have arranged for and are taking a shuttle, you will find shuttle buses on the terminal’s lower roadway (outside of baggage claim) on the far side of Island #2, closer to the parking garage.
The building’s underground garage provides onsite parking. Combined, the two levels offer 800 spaces.
Enter the garage through either the Northeast First Avenue (P1) or Lloyd Boulevard (P2) entrance. Clearance on the P1 level is 7 feet; clearance on the P2 level is 9 feet.
Overnight parking is prohibited.
Hourly rates available Monday through Sunday:
FREE parking for 1 to 15 minutes
$5 for 16 minutes to 1 hour
$7 for 1 to 2 hours
$9 for 2 to 3 hours
$10 for 3 to 4 hours
$12 for 4 to 18 hours (over 18 hours incurs an additional $2 per hour charge)
Time is determined from the minute you enter the garage to the time you exit.
The parking garage generally opens daily at 6 a.m. Arrangements may be made for the garage to open earlier if needed.
Note: Some privately owned lots around the OCC promote "convention center parking" but these are not operated by the OCC.
